Throne Trip Tuesdays - More about Trust

I'm continuing my study on trust. Putting my trust in God. Not just sometimes. All the time. Not only when it's convenient. When it's inconvenient. When it doesn't make sense. First, I had to know what trust really meant. Trust is defined as being solely reliant on the strength, integrity, ability of someone else; confident expectation; and hope.

I searched out to see what God's word has to say about trust. There are clearly some things that I am not to put my trust in....like $$$$, other people, works, and leaders. I can put my trust in God's name, in His word, and in Christ.

So, what are the benefits of putting my trust in God and not in my own strength? I will receive:

Joy - Psalm 5:11: But let all those rejoice who put their trust in You; Let them ever shout for joy, because You defend them; Let those also who love Your name be joyful in You.

Deliverance - Psalm 22: 4-5: Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them.  They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

Triumph - Psalm 25: 2-3: O my God, I trust in You; Let me not be ashamed; Let not my enemies triumph over me.  Indeed, let no one who waits on You be ashamed; Let those be ashamed who deal treacherously without cause.

God's goodness - Psalm 31:19: Oh, how great is Your goodness, Which You have laid up for those who fear You, Which You have prepared for those who trust in You in the presence of the sons of men!

Mercy - Psalm 32:10: Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; But he who trusts in the LORD, mercy shall surround him.

Provision - Psalm 37: 3,5: Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness.
5 Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

Blessedness - Psalm 40:4: Blessed is that man who makes the LORD his trust, And does not respect the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Safety - Psalm 56:4, 11: In God (I will praise His word), In God I have put my trust; I will not fear. What can flesh do to me? 11 In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?

Usefulness - Psalm 73:28: But it is good for me to draw near to God; I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, That I may declare all Your works.

Guidance - Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Inheritance - Isaiah 57:13: When you cry out, Let your collection of idols deliver you. But the wind will carry them all away, A breath will take them. But he who puts his trust in Me shall possess the land, And shall inherit My holy mountain.”

It is clear that God has my best interests at heart. Yet, I have a tendency to withdraw from Him and rely on my own devices and desires. When my daughter does this to me, I get frustrated with her. I cannot understand why she will not accept the help that is so freely given to her. I imagine that my heavenly Father wonders the same about me.

May I not be ashamed to rely on God. May I trust Him whose desire it is to deliver me. Bless me. Provide for me. Lavish on me His riches and the inheritance He has already established for me. May I seek His guidance today, This Day.

Peace and Joy,
Susan
