Small Town Festivals

There is nothing better than seeing family and friends come together to support the community. This event is five full days of music, contests, two parades, marching band competitions, firefighter water fights, and a queen pageant.

We took the grand-boy to the kiddie parade and on a few rides. Plus we watched the Grand Parade. We all had a great time. What are some local festivals in your region? Do you partake in the activities or "fair food"? My favorite activity is the Gospel Sing. This year Jeff & Sheri Easter blessed us. Hope you enjoy the slide show.

Peace and Joy,
Susan

Looks like so much fun! Our town has a Carnation Festival that sounds a lot like this. It's so much fun every August :-)

Great fun. We went yesterday with the GRANDs to the Shrimp and Grits Festival on Jekyll Island. It was good fun but SO HOT. 95*

Susan,

You know we have lived here for 7 years and the only one we know about is the Huck Finn Jamboree in the middle of summer. Why oh why did they think people living in the desert wanted to get together on some 113 degree day in the sun to hang out. Seriously someone is mixed up in their calendar events. We are looking forward to our apple festival in Oak Glen in late October, early November and the Temecula Balloon and Wine Festival in October.

Our county festival is a blast. i don't think you're ever to old to enjoy a festival or fair.

Our community has a "Home Products Dinner" each September. When it was originally placed several years ago, long long time ago, every single thing that was on the dinner plate was grown locally. Most of it still is, with a few exceptions.

Grown locally:

corn on the cob
beef
MILO donuts
STRAWBERRY jam
baked squash

Down here in sunny Dago. We ride 365. There's always something going on. My favorite is "Thunder on the Mountain", Run to Big Bear.

This looks like great fun. My hometown has a parade every August that is very similar to yours. Sweet memories from childhood.
