Throne Trip Tuesdays - My Word!

Lots of people make resolutions for the new year. Healthier eating. More exercise. Less of this. More of that. Stop doing this. Start doing that. Blah, blah, blah. How many of us actually stick with any of those? Really? I mean past the one month mark. By March those good intentions are long gone. Some of us are guilt ridden because we didn't stick with it.

Now don't get me wrong. I think purposing to make changes for the better is fabulous. Deems commendation. I do it. I was at the gym today. It's something that is part of my routine. I just changed my routine for a few weeks by not going. lol. One year I quit smoking. It wasn't a new year's resolution. I kicked the habit in July. Fourteen years ago this year. I'm a firm believer in making changes for the better any ole' time. Why wait?

One thing I've seen in the blog world the last couple years is a single word. Posts that are developed around the central theme of that one word. There have been many words I thought I would use for this year. Some of the options were: cherish, simplicity, joy, create, and grace. But one word kept repeating. Showing up. I tossed it around quite a bit. The word? Treasure.

I'm going to see how God reveals Himself as I dig for Treasure; how I can bless others with that Treasure; and how I can incorporate that Treasure in my daily life. Do you have a word for 2012?

Peace and Joy,
Susan

Matthew 6:19-20 (NKJV) 19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.

Things to Ponder

Something a little different today...... Think about this:

  1. Cows
  2. The Constitution
  3. The Ten Commandments
1. COWS - Is it just me or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 20 million illegal aliens wandering around our country

Maybe we should give each of them a cow. (Just sayn.)

2. THE CONSTITUTION - They keep talking about drafting a constitution for Iraq..... Why don't we just give them ours? It was written by a lot of really smart guys. It has worked for over 200 years. Besides....we don't seem to be using it any more. (Just sayn.)

3. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - The real reason that we can't have the Ten Commandments posted in a courthouse or Congress is this -- you cannot post 'Thou Shalt Not Steal', 'Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery', and 'Thou Shalt Not Lie' in a building full of lawyers, judges, and politicians... it creates a hostile work environment. (Just sayn.)

Do you have a funny story to share? Looking at the brighter side of life does wonders for the soul and attitude. Let's purpose to put a smile on someone's face today, This Day. You'll both be blessed by the experience.

Peace and Joy,
Susan

A Treasured Moment

I was asked to describe my favorite date with my husband before we got married and decided to share it with you.

This is still one of my favorite things to do with my hubby. We all need to find time for more moments like these:

I remember this particular date like it was yesterday. It was mid-August. The heat and humidity were smothering. We had finished our dinner date at a favorite restaurant and decided to drive through a state park near our town. He drove until he found the perfect spot, an open grassy area. He stopped the car and took out two folding chairs. You know the kind. They collapse and fit into a bag that is slung over the shoulder for ease in carrying. These particular chairs also have a foot rest. Nice touch. While he was getting the chairs from the trunk of the car, I was spraying on my prized summer fragrance, OFF! Mosquitoes find my natural aroma irresistible.

We then strolled hand-in-hand out to the middle of the open grassy patch and set up the chairs. We positioned them side-by-side but facing each other, similar to a love seat. We talked of hopes and dreams as we gazed at the night sky and gazed at each other. It was truly a precious moment. The climate dictated the duration of our star gazing but it is a moment that will always be treasured.

Recall the treasured moments spent with your family and friends today, This Day.

Peace and Joy,
Susan
